Headed to the California desert to see Harry Styles, Billie Eilish and a hundred-plus other acts over one of the two Coachella 2022 weekends? Lucky you! Some of the world’s most beloved music artists performing across more than a half-dozen stages. The famed festival also attracts A-list chef talent which makes where to eat at Coachella as pleasantly challenging as deciding which shows to catch.
The two-weekend extravaganza, running April 15-17 and April 22-24 in Indio, CA, returns from its pandemic hiatus this year. Along with it is an eye-popping lineup of food vendors, pop-up experiences, a food market, and an exclusive version of the traveling culinary concept Outstanding in the Field (first covered by Food Republic back in 2012!)
Superstar chefs in the lineup
Big names in the Coachella food lineup include the world-renowned Indian chef Gaggan Anand (at Outstanding in the Field weekend 1); chef Phillip Frankland Lee, whose Sushi by Scratch will offer a 17-course “omakase speakeasy”; and more casual all-stars such as Roy Choi’s Kogi BBQ. (We also have to give a shout-out to Ayinde Howell, Food Republic’s first vegan columnist, who will cook alongside Makini Howell of plant-based Plum Bistro in Seattle as part of Outstanding in the Field weekend 2.)
Guy Fieri smartly gets in on the action at Coachella—hey, those tix are hard to come by!—assembling an A-list collection of pit masters at Stagecoach, with a 40,000 square foot Smokehouse experience. This year’s lineup features Pat Martin, Adam Perry Lang, Chris Schobel, Kevin Bludso, Christopher Holt Conger and Stan Hays with Operation BBQ.
